Some weddings feel especially personal, and Silver and Yi Shien’s Mega Chinese Methodist Church wedding was one of them.

Silver has been part of my church family for many years. I once had the privilege of being her youth teacher. So, watching her become a wife felt incredibly meaningful to me. Helping her parents preserve this chapter through photographs was both an honour and a blessing.

A Joyful Chinese Wedding Morning

The day began with excitement, laughter and the wonderful little moments of chaos that make a wedding morning feel alive.

Silver prepared alongside her family and bridesmaids, surrounded by conversations, laughter and the anticipation of everything ahead. Meanwhile, Yi Shien arrived with his groomsmen, ready to face the gate-crashing challenges before he could finally meet his bride.

Between the games, cheering and laughter were quieter moments filled with tenderness—the finishing touches, reassuring hands and meaningful glances that often pass by unnoticed.

It was joyful, heartfelt and wonderfully authentic—exactly how a wedding morning should feel.

An Emotional Mega Chinese Methodist Church Wedding

Their holy matrimony took place at Mega Chinese Methodist Church, the church where Silver grew up in faith and became part of our church family.

Before the ceremony began, the sanctuary was quietly prepared to welcome everyone. Red-and-white flowers framed the stage, while photographs and thoughtful little details filled the welcome table. As relatives and friends arrived, there were greetings, conversations and growing anticipation for the moment everyone had gathered to witness.

The procession began with the little flower girls making their way down the aisle, bringing smiles to the congregation. Silver’s bridesmaids followed in their green dresses, while Yi Shien waited at the front with his groomsmen. They applauded and smiled together, but the atmosphere slowly changed when Silver appeared with her father.

As they walked down the aisle, Yi Shien watched the woman he loved coming towards him. Then, when Silver’s father placed her hand into his, their handshake became a long and heartfelt embrace. It was more than a formal handover—it felt like a father quietly entrusting his daughter to the man she had chosen to walk through life with.

Once Silver and Yi Shien stood together, the sanctuary moved into worship. Hands were lifted, eyes were closed and voices joined as their parents, relatives, friends and church community worshipped and prayed alongside them. It was a beautiful reminder that they were not beginning their marriage alone; they were surrounded by people who had loved them, guided them and shared in their journey of faith.

Then came the vows they had written for one another.

Promises, Rings and a Full-Circle Blessing

Their smiles gradually gave way to tears as the meaning of their promises settled in. Yi Shien tried to hold his emotions together, but eventually reached for a tissue while Silver looked at him with tenderness.

The photographs also caught the reactions around them—proud parents, affectionate smiles and a congregation fully present in the moment. There was reverence, but there was also warmth and laughter. Nothing felt overly formal or distant. It felt personal, sincere and deeply alive.

They exchanged rings, made their promises before God and their loved ones, and sealed those promises with their first kiss as husband and wife. The sanctuary immediately filled with applause, laughter and joy.

However, before the newlyweds marched out, one final and deeply meaningful moment unfolded.

Rev. Ho—the pastor who baptised Silver when she was still a baby—stood before her once again. This time, Silver was no longer the infant at the beginning of her journey of faith. She stood beside Yi Shien as a bride, ready to begin a new journey of marriage.

With his hand raised over them, Rev. Ho gave the benediction and prayed a blessing over their life together. From baptising Silver as a baby to blessing her marriage many years later, it was a beautiful full-circle picture of God’s faithfulness through every season of her life.

Then came the joyful release of everything everyone had been holding inside. Silver and Yi Shien marched out together beneath a shower of petals and ribbons, laughing as their families and friends cheered around them.

The ceremony was more than the joining of 2 people. It was a celebration of faith, family, community and a love story that had been gently carried through the years.

An Evening of Love and Celebration

After their Mega Chinese Methodist Church wedding ceremony, Silver and Yi Shien’s celebration continued at Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam, beginning with meaningful family traditions and heartfelt embraces before everyone gathered for the dinner reception.

The photographs begin with the little details waiting to welcome everyone. Deep red flowers, soft green accents, neatly arranged place settings and a dessert table filled with little treats gave the reception a warm, inviting feel. Nearby, their names were surrounded by flowers, while red and white roses decorated the wedding cake. Everything was ready for the room to fill with familiar faces.

Then came Silver and Yi Shien, walking into the ballroom hand in hand. Silver smiled as she gathered her gown, with Yi Shien beside her in his black suit and bow tie. After cutting their cake together, they settled at the table, where one small moment caught my attention.

Yi Shien lifted Silver’s hand to his lips and kissed it as she smiled at him.

Among all the beautiful details and celebrations, it was such a simple, affectionate gesture. These are the moments I love to preserve, when a couple finds a little space for each other even in a room full of people.

As the speeches began, the photographs turned towards the people listening. Guests leaned forward, laughed openly and covered their faces with their hands. Silver and Yi Shien watched from their seats, their expressions becoming part of the story unfolding around them. Looking beyond the person holding the microphone, there was so much happening across the tables.

The evening soon grew more playful. Hands went up around the ballroom, guests joined the activities and friends took their turn on stage. Some of my favourite frames are wonderfully unguarded, with people laughing together, cheering one another on and happily joining the fun.

The live music carried a personal meaning too. Every musician performing that evening was a friend of the couple and a professional musician. They were not simply there to provide the soundtrack, but to celebrate people they knew and loved, sharing their talents as part of the occasion. It made the music feel very much part of Silver and Yi Shien’s story.

The gallery then moved into the next part of the evening. Yi Shien appeared in white, while Silver wore an embroidered red-and-gold outfit with a flowing pale wrap. Together, they opened the champagne, gathered with their loved ones for a joyful toast and took the microphone to speak.

There was tenderness in these photographs too. Yi Shien stood close with his arm around Silver as she spoke, and later, she held a loved one in a warm embrace. Between the raised glasses and laughter, those quieter gestures still found their place.

Towards the end of the gallery, music became something even more personal. Yi Shien picked up an electric guitar and joined the performance, a lovely glimpse of the groom beyond the formal moments of his wedding day.

Your eyes then arrive at the final photograph, Silver among a crowd of delighted faces, hands raised and everyone caught in the movement and excitement of the celebration.

It feels like the right way to remember the evening. Not with everyone standing perfectly still, but together, laughing, cheering and completely in the moment.
