A little look back at Heleen and Jack’s Outdoor Maternity Session Barendrecht, photographed during a mini session at Sandelingen-Ambacht. They discovered my work through one of my past clients and booked before I left Malaysia. Because every return to the Netherlands feels special, I was grateful to explore a new location and document this beautiful season with them.
Finding Soft Light for Outdoor Pregnancy Photography
It was my first time visiting this wilderness park in Barendrecht, so I spent time walking around and searching for the right spot. The afternoon was beautifully sunny; however, the light was still very harsh and directional. Heleen and Jack could barely keep their eyes open, so instead of rushing, we decided to walk a little and begin the session closer to sunset.
At first, we used the shade beneath the trees for a few quiet portraits. Meanwhile, I kept watching the light as it softened across the park. This slower pace is one reason I love outdoor pregnancy photography—the environment guides the session, and patience often creates the most natural results.
When the Golden-Hour Magic Finally Arrived
Finally, just before sunset, the light changed completely. The harsh brightness faded, and a warm golden glow began wrapping gently around Heleen and Jack. As a result, the images felt soft, peaceful, and full of anticipation. That golden rim of light brought the whole Outdoor Maternity Session Barendrecht together and made the final moments magical.
