A mini urban city couple portrait session can still hold a beautiful story, especially when the city offers contrast at every turn. With Tanja and XingWoo, I returned to Rotterdam—a place I had hoped to photograph again for several years. From the beginning, their easy laughter, gentle affection, and playful energy made this short session feel deeply personal.

Urban City Couple Portrait Session in Modern Rotterdam
Rotterdam feels very different from many other Dutch cities. After the bombing of 14 May 1940 destroyed much of its city centre, Rotterdam was rebuilt with bold, forward-looking architecture. Today, that dramatic cityscape creates a cinematic setting for couples who love something modern, stylish, and unexpected.
Naturally, we began this Rotterdam couple photoshoot near the iconic Erasmus Bridge. Connecting the northern and southern parts of the city, the bridge has become one of Rotterdam’s defining modern landmarks. Against its strong lines and open waterfront, Tanja and XingWoo brought warmth and life into every frame.

However, I also wanted to discover a quieter side of Rotterdam. Just north of the bridge, I found a peaceful neighbourhood with red-brick buildings, leafy corners, and traces of older Dutch character.

Therefore, we wandered beyond the landmark and photographed simple, honest moments—walking hand in hand, sharing drinks, laughing together, and leaning close beside the old streets. These intimate images added softness and balance to the bold urban surroundings.
A Brief Window of Sunlight and Grace

After several sunny days, the gloomy skies had returned. Yet, by God’s grace, the sun appeared briefly and softened the entire atmosphere.
I am grateful for this little adventure and for the privilege of preserving Tanja and XingWoo’s relationship exactly as it felt: natural, joyful, and genuinely theirs.
