In September, I had the incredible privilege of capturing Jenny and Nic’s Chinese traditional wedding in Rotterdam. It was a celebration deeply rooted in tradition, love, and lifelong friendships. What made this wedding even more special was the connection we shared. Jenny and Nic’s wedding was particularly special. They were introduced to me by two of my past couples, Vivian & Raymond (2018) and Jukki & Robin (2023). I had also photographed their weddings in Rotterdam.
Being invited back from Malaysia once again to capture this beautiful occasion was truly an honor. Seeing how these friendships intertwined over the years made this celebration even more meaningful. Nic had stood beside Raymond as a best-man. Now, it was his turn to take center stage as the groom. It was a full-circle moment filled with love, joy, and cherished connections.

The day kicked off with a traditional Chinese gate crashing ceremony. It was a playful yet meaningful ritual. Nic and his groomsmen had to prove his love and devotion. Only then could he finally see his bride. The bridesmaids put them through a series of hilarious challenges. The challenges were heartwarming and tested their determination. They also tested teamwork and willingness to go the extra mile for love.
Having been a groomsman before, Nic had an idea of what to expect—but that didn’t make it any easier! Laughter echoed through the room as the challenges unfolded, creating unforgettable moments filled with fun and camaraderie.

Seeing Nic in this moment—as the groom, standing confidently beside his bride—was truly special. I had captured him as a groomsman in past weddings. It was heartwarming to now witness his own love story unfold in front of my lens.

The sun set. The reception transformed into a joyful wedding banquet. Guests indulged in an exquisite Western dinner, renowned at Hilton Rotterdam. One of the most unforgettable moments of the night was when Nic surprised everyone. Jenny was especially surprised. He delivered a live solo performance of a song. This song held deep meaning for them as a couple.
He was dressed in a classic black tuxedo. He took center stage with the microphone in hand. Jenny watched with an adoring smile, radiant in her stunning red gown. The room fell silent, captivated by the raw emotion in Nic’s voice as he poured his heart into every lyric.
